Four years ago, the exceet Card Group was the first card manufacturer to launch VISA and Mastercard-certified wooden cards. For many banks today, the wood card is not only a physical connection to their customers, but also an expression of their own value system, with which they can achieve a real impact for people and nature. Because sustainability is not just a goal for the exceet Card Group, but part of our mission, we continuously invest in the research and development of our green card range.

For the latest version of our wooden card, we use the so-called ‘SECORA Pay Green’ technology from our partner Infineon, which integrates the antenna into the chip module. Once the chip module has been removed at the end of the card’s product lifecycle, the card is made of pure wood and is therefore fully compostable. Our #madeinaustria card production and the use of locally available raw materials in combination with this chip technology and the short transport routes further reduce the CO2 footprint significantly.

The exceet Card Group’s wooden cards are more than just the sum of their parts. Years of expertise and a strict qualification process are key for the production of our wooden cards. Before our payment cards are delivered to customers, they undergo rigorous tests that simulate years of use. Although a payment card made of wood is by no means proof of sustainability on its own, the transparency of our value chain in card production is. This is how we ensure that our supply chains remain as short as possible. We are happy to go the extra mile to make our world a place worth living in for the next generation.
